The android character that we saw in the teasers on twitter is Vendetta. He looks a bit like Cayde-6 from Destiny when levelled up, but seems like he's the main villain this season. He's the Tier 100 progressive skin for Season 9, and has 11 challenges to unlock, eventually becoming animated and available in a range of colours.
Driftboards showed up in Fortnite season 7, and they're spread out across the island. The floating snowboards are mainly found in the southwest, where most of the ice mountains are. Hop on one, look for a ramplike surface or cliff to jump off, hit the boost, and jump. While in the air, move in different directions to pull off different tricks and land to complete this challenge.
Fortnite Season 9 kicks off this week and it looks like it’ll be futuristic...
Unlike previous weeks, this is the first challenge that requires players to have a certain Battle Pass tier. The Flying Disc toy is unlocked at tier 35, so players will need to run through most of the previous weeks' challenges to get to this level. Equip the Flying Disc toy as an emote, point up and activate it. The disc will fly up and you can chase it down before it falls to the ground. Make sure to do this without anyone around or else you'll become an easy target.
It all kicks off this weekend with a Fortnite live event that will bring Fortnite's current storyline to an end, teeing up the next part of the overarching story instead of sticking with the status quo for Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 9.
Epic tends to add clues and Easter eggs on the island that hint at upcoming events or the next season. A less than subtle example in Fortnite season 9 is the addition of a building in Paradise Palms that looks remarkably like the house from the John Wick films.
Previously, players have heard immense howling emit from the frozen ice. In season 7, players found what appeared to be dragon eggs buried in the depths of the frozen castle nearby. So this all points toward some sort of dragon or dinosaur-like creature being buried beneath the ice and possibly emerging at the start of season 10.
So yeah, our bet is Fortnite is implementing some sort of heavy sci-fi elements to this season. That might just mean more skins, but having a portion of the map get retooled to look like Blade Runner or some other cyberpunk future might be really cool.
It looks like a ninja wearing a demonic Noh mask to me, but there's also a sci-fi bend to it which reminds me of the recent Unvaulting event (opens in new tab). I don't know if it's the neon eyes or the porcelain mask or the blue-to-purple gradient put over the whole thing, but it definitely has an ethereal vibe to it, not unlike the vault room where players brazenly reclaimed the Drum Gun. I mean, the revealing streak in this teaser image does look like a big 'N.' This may just be me reading too much into things, but I choose to believe it's 'N' as in ninja.
In the running (40% to 69%): WR Odell Beckham Jr., WR Jarvis Landry. When I last attempted something like this column in June 2016, I gave Beckham a 50% chance of making the Hall of Fame after two dominant seasons as a pro. He was excellent in his third season, but since then, his production has roughly been in line with that of Robby Anderson. OBJ hasn't made a Pro Bowl since 2016, and while this could be a bounce-back year for the former Giants star, another middling campaign would push him into the "Work to do" tier.
Work to do (10% to 39%): RB Melvin Gordon, DE Jurrell Casey. Gordon made it to two Pro Bowls during his five seasons with the Chargers, but injury concerns and fumble woes make it tough to see a Hall of Fame ceiling for the 2015 first-rounder. Casey has made five consecutive Pro Bowls, but the Titans were willing to cut him this offseason before trading him for a seventh-round pick, which also seems telling about where they saw his future. He's in line behind guys like Atkins unless the USC product continues to make Pro Bowls deep into his 30s. (Justin Simmons, who was one of the NFL's best safeties a year ago, is still waiting for his first Pro Bowl appearance.)
Likely (70% to 99%): WR Tyreek Hill, TE Travis Kelce. It might seem surprising to put Hill this high, but he has made it to four Pro Bowls and been a first-team All-Pro twice across his first four seasons. All seven players who did that and who are eligible for the Hall are in, and the list of ineligible guys includes Hill, Patrick Willis, Joe Thomas, Adrian Peterson, Patrick Peterson, Zack Martin and Aaron Donald. Everyone but Hill is either a lock or extremely likely to make it in. Hill's game still relies on speed, so he could be more susceptible to a career shortened by injuries than most other candidates, but if he gets three more seasons with Mahomes, he's probably in.
Likely (70% to 99%): QB Matt Ryan, WR Julio Jones. Jones is likely to top 13,000 receiving yards and earn his eighth Pro Bowl nod this season, which should be enough to seal things for the superstar wideout. He isn't going to catch Jerry Rice, but he's just under 5,000 yards behind Larry Fitzgerald, who ranks second in career receiving yards. Jones should make up some of that difference in 2020, and after Fitzgerald retires, he should be able to challenge the Cardinals great for that second spot.
In the running (40% to 69%): RB Todd Gurley. What happens next is critical for Gurley, who would have seemed on the road to Canton after taking home Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2015 and adding an Offensive Player of the Year award two years later. Gurley was a first-team All-Pro in 2017 and 2018, but he wasn't able to clinch a rushing title and didn't look like his old self last season. If he recovers and returns to his 2017-18 form, he still has plenty of time to get back on the Canton track, given that he turned 26 this week. As it stands, though, Gurley doesn't have enough on his résumé to get in.
Work to do (10% to 39%): WR Mike Evans, WR Chris Godwin, LB Lavonte David. Evans and Godwin might end up hurting each other's chances by preventing the other from getting a 185-target season like the one Michael Thomas enjoyed in 2019. David has been supremely underrated during his career, but after earning a first-team All-Pro nod in 2013, he has made it to a lone Pro Bowl over the ensuing six seasons. To contrast with a Hall of Famer, Derrick Brooks had six Pro Bowls and three All-Pro appearances by this point.
Bosa won Defensive Rookie of the Year, which hasn't been quite as big of a boon as you might think. Just six of 32 Hall-eligible winners made it to Canton, although that's going to rise in the years to come as the likes of Charles Woodson and Julius Peppers win enshrinement. Both Bosa and Kittle could make this tier placement look stupid if they have big seasons in 2020.
The show match itself was also a great success! Over 20k concurrent viewers across multiple streaming platforms, as well as a packed live venue, watched the shock take down the Fuel in 7 games. For many of the players, both Shock and Fuel, this was their first opportunity in years to play in front of their Korean fanbase, which was an incredibly meaningful event for both them and their fans. We loved being able to put on a live event like this one, and can't wait for the new look Shock to make their way to LA for the 2023 season.

Due to our dominant regular season performance, the team won't have to participate in play-ins, and will be able to get an extra week of practice in on the most recent tournament patch heading into playoffs. We're excited to see how far this squad can go! #WINNABLE
This past week, the NRG Rocket League team showed a shaky performance at the regional event, where we fell just short of making the playoffs in a winner-take-all overtime heartbreaker. The squad looks to bounce back quickly this Sunday during the Fall Cup Closed Qualifier.
Our level designers are providing a glimpse of what the inside of one of the major buildings looks like on the upcoming 1.10 map. It looks like something happened to cause this area to have been evacuated quickly. Luckily, the photo of Mr. Falafel Fluff appears to be undamaged.
We hope you're all continuing to brush up on those tactics and improve your skills in Onward while we have been working on updates and patches alike. A new patch will release next week featuring anti-cheat measures, and we have started testing the long-in-the-making Update 1.8.8 earlier in the week.
