As we know, capacity of a hard disk = the number of logical sectors within the device the size of each logical sector, and a computer system requires bits of information to represent sector amounts. The partitioning scheme used by most modern Windows-based computers is MBR (master boot record), which sets a limit of 32 for the number of bits that are available to represent the number of logical sectors. Therefore, the maximum hard disk size is 2^32 * sector size.
Xbox 360 Boot Disk V2.4
MBR, namely Master Boot Record, is composed of 3 parts, including master boot code, disk signature, and the partition table for the disk. An MBR partition table is allocated with 64 bytes to hold entries of primary partition, and one partition entry uses 16 bytes. As a result, MBR partition table can hold the maximum number of 4 entries, which means that it represents 4 primary partitions at most.
So maybe you are interrested in the boot disk, the one where /boot/efi is, assuming that your system boots in EFI mode. In this case, just replace df -h / by df -h /boot/efi and you're good. Why use /boot/efi ? Because EFI firmware can only boot simple partitions, not zfs raid, luks, linux raid or other weird things that Linux can use. Note that you still have the problem of detecting system disks ; it's perfectly possible to have /boot/efi somewhere on /dev/sda and / on /dev/sdb or on zfs raid, lvm, linux raid etc...
If you've ever been put off from importing the latest release of your favourite game from Japan because you feared the language barrier would render it unplayable, then this update is for you. We had always assumed that Phantasy Star Online, Sega's multiplayer RPG for the Dreamcast would allow users from each company to have certain phrases used by their online friends translated, but apparently the game also includes the option to run the game itself in any of the five supported languages! As such, importing a copy from Japan will make no nevermind to practically everybody, as they can simply switch it to run in English. Genius. Of course, you can't just run an import Dreamcast game on a PAL system, either you will need the legendary Dreamcast boot disk (readily available) or you will need some form of Action Replay-like device or chip to help. We don't really advocate the use of import titles, but if you don't want to wait, there is no other option. Naturally, it's slightly more work getting the game to dial Japan from the UK! And I don't think anyone is likely to recommend you do that.
The last point of failure for boot failure is the operating system. If the operating system has been corrupted, it can cause any number of errors to be shown on startup. On Windows machines this usually results in a blue screen of death. To fix this, usually the hard drive needs to be wiped and Windows needs to be reinstalled (after making sure your files are backed up). Macs, on the other hand, have a few recovery options, the most useful being disk first aid. Holding down Command-R while the machine is booting will bring up the recovery boot options: 2ff7e9595c
